Why I Started the Squire Book Club

Running a wedding business takes talent—but scaling it takes strategy. In this post, we’re sharing how a few powerful books changed everything for us, and why we created a space where wedding vendors can grow together, one book (and one big idea) at a time. If you’re craving community with purpose, this is where it starts.

(And Why It’s Not Your Average “Book and Wine” Situation)

Let’s be honest: most wedding vendors are walking, talking, timeline-managing bundles of get it done. We’re artists, problem-solvers, crisis managers, hype girls, and logistics queens—all before lunch.

But when it comes to running our actual businesses… that part?

Let’s just say it’s often the part we figure out while hurtling toward burnout.

That’s exactly why the Squire Book Club was born.

It All Started with One Book (Okay, a Few)

If you’ve ever read something that made your brain go “WAIT—why did no one tell me this sooner?!”, you already get it.

Here are three books that didn’t just inspire me… they changed the way I ran my business:

Profit First

by Mike Michalowicz

This one slapped me in the spreadsheets.

I used to pay myself after everything else. Spoiler: there was never anything left.

After reading this? I built a system that guaranteed I paid myself—and stopped dreading tax season. Life. Changing. So much so, that I made 6 figures the very next year after reading this book.

Atomic Habits

 by James Clear

Before this book, I thought success was about massive action. After? I realized tiny tweaks could add up to major shifts.

Five minutes of inbox cleanup. Pre-written email templates. Setting my camera bag down in the same spot every time. It’s not sexy—but it works. It’s also what helped me CHILL out and no be so stressed so much.

You’re a Badass at Making Money

 by Jen Sincero

This one? It tackled the mindset.

Because let’s be real—some of us are undercharging, overworking, and calling it “humble.” This book gave me permission to own my value. And to actually say my rates out loud without cringing. After reading this one I DOUBLED my pricing and introduced albums…expensive albums. I’m talking albums I couldn’t have afforded at the time, and guess what..people bought them..to the tune of 50k+ a year on top of my services!

A Community… But Make It Purpose-Driven

There are a million wedding vendor groups online.

Most of them are great for crowdsourcing lens recommendations or venting about that one guest who brought a tripod. (Bless you Uncle Bob.)

But that’s not what this is.

The Squire Book Club isn’t just a community—

it’s a community with a mission:

To help wedding vendors build stronger, smarter, more profitable businesses—together.

We’re all talented in different ways. You might be a floral artist, a camera ninja, a spreadsheet sorceress, or a storytelling magician.

But if the business side isn’t growing alongside your talent?

You’re going to hit a wall eventually.

And it’s going to be made of invoices, imposter syndrome, and underpricing.

So What Do We Do In This Book Club?

Glad you asked. Every month, we read one business book—focused on a specific theme like:

  • Money (yes please)
  • Branding (your DMs are dry for a reason)
  • Sales (that don’t feel gross)
  • Mindset (because your brain’s the CEO)

But don’t worry—it’s not like school. There’s no “pop quiz” energy here.

Here’s what you’ll get each month:

  • A PDF guide with discussion questions, bite-sized insights, and takeaways
  • A private Facebook group to connect with other vendors and apply what you’re learning
  • A short, sweet Zoom wrap-up to chat through the book and celebrate any “aha!” moments
  • And maybe (just maybe) a few memes, rants, and relatable biz confessions along the way

This Is for You If…

  • You love what you do, but the business part makes you want to hide in your car
  • You’ve bought books with the best intentions… and left them collecting dust
  • You’re ready to grow, but you don’t have the time (or mental bandwidth) for another 8-week course
  • You crave connection with other vendors who get it—but don’t want the pressure of constant self-promotion

Final Word?

We started Squire Book Club because wedding vendors are creative powerhouses who deserve to run powerfully structured businesses.

This isn’t about hustle. It’s about clarity, strategy, and community.

No gatekeeping.

No guru vibes.

Just a group of wildly talented vendors committed to building better businesses—together.
